Tackling Climate Action with Pathzero

What if there were a single platform that inspired and enabled businesses to make the world a safer and better place?

It is becoming increasingly more apparent that world governments are not willing to take the necessary steps to tackle climate change at an acceptable pace. Climate change is happening and each of us has an obligation to take action in any way we can. So, too, does the private sector both in terms of developing technologies to address climate change but also in taking responsibility for their own carbon footprint and those of their employees, customers and their supply chain.

In 2015, the United Nations published a blueprint to achieve a more sustainable future for all living and nonliving things in the form of 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals were adopted by all UN Member States, laying out a roadmap towards 2030.One of these goals is Climate Action – aiming to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

Disasters such as droughts, floods, wildfire’s and a measurable increase in global temperatures have created a sense of urgency among decision makers, industries and citizens alike. For this reason, Black Nova Group has opted to learn more about our own carbon footprint as well as its environmental consequences and to actively offset our impact by engaging with Australian startup Pathzero

We believe the time has come where businesses, en masse, will voluntarily begin to take steps to offset their carbon emissions. Decision makers, business owners and founders are being driven by their consciences and an appreciation of the environmental challenges the world is facing though climate change. So, too, are their stakeholders – from employees to customers and shareholders – beginning to demand and expect corporate responsibility with regard to environmental concerns.

Since meeting with and investing in Pathzero, Black Nova has been impressed by the capabilities that the Australian startup can provide to SMEs. We arranged a meeting with CEO & Co-Founder, Carl Prins, to discuss what it would entail to offset our carbon footprint for our (totally remote) team and business . The process was completed in the course of a single phone call.

For approximately AUD$100 a month, Pathzero has provided our business with the capability to entirely offset our carbon emissions via the offsetting purchase of carbon credits through internationally recognised exchanges. By contributing to carbon offset projects, we are reducing our contribution to the climate crisis by removing as much CO2 & greenhouse gases from the atmosphere as the company emits.

The onboarding process was simple and seamless. We are proud to have partnered with Pathzero to give businesses the tools that have otherwise been inaccessible – until now – to simply and cost effectively offset business emissions. They have created a platform that offers their customers a chance to do good, take an actionable step towards addressing a burning social issue, show leadership and contribute to true change at a time when it is most needed.
